Mori Hamada is pleased to announce that we have decided to establish a London office, which will commence operations in 2026.

Our London office will serve as our European hub, covering not only the United Kingdom but the wider European region. It will complement our existing network in Asia and the United States, enabling us to provide seamless legal support to our globally active clients as a unified firm.

We have long served our British and European clients on their important matters from our Tokyo headquarters and other offices. Having noted our clients’ increasing interest in the Japanese market and assets, we believe that having a physical footprint in Europe will better serve them. With the increasingly complex global landscape, and a growing emphasis on national priorities and bilateral negotiations over multilateral coordination, it has become essential to gather real-time legal and policy information on the ground in Europe and to further strengthen our longstanding ties with local firms. For these reasons, we have chosen to establish a presence in London, the center of business, finance, and law in the region.

Partner Yohsuke Higashi, who specializes in cross-border M&A, foreign investment regulations, and international trade, will lead our London office as managing partner, together with other resident attorneys. Leveraging our extensive network in Japan and across Asia, the London office will deliver real-time support to our European clients on their transactions, regulatory inquiries, and crisis management in Asia, while also supporting our Japanese clients with outbound M&A, projects, and regulatory matters in Europe.
