On November 3, the recipients of Imperial Orders for Autumn 2007 were announced and on November 6 Kunio Hamada was decorated with the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun* in recognition of his contribution as Justice of the Supreme Court of Japan and as the Managing Director of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations.
* The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun is one of the most prestigious Japanese decorations, after the Order of the Chrysanthemum and the Order of the Paulownia Flowers.
