Message from Ms. Zoe Lim

Born, raised and educated in Australia, I started my legal career in the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2017. There I completed a training contract, rotating in various departments including a number of disputes teams (international arbitration, commercial disputes, and environment, products and regulation), and other transactional teams. During my training contract I also spent six months in the firm’s international arbitration team in Paris. From 2019, I joined the firm’s commercial disputes team as an associate, where I focused on English High Court litigation, and also worked on corporate investigations.

In late 2021, I was seconded to Marubeni Corporation and relocated to Tokyo. At Marubeni Corporation, I predominantly worked on the company’s disputes including pre-action strategy for various business teams such as the energy, power, lifestyle and chemical departments. I also assisted with the company’s general corporate matters.

I am now greatly looking forward to furthering my legal career in Japan by joining Mori Hamada & Matsumoto. I hope to use my experience and understanding of the Japanese market to help clients navigate their disputes.
