Message from Ms. Hisae Komiya

I am honored to be joining Mori Hamada as an attorney-at-law after recently retiring from service as a prosecutor.

After graduating from university, I began my career as a criminal law researcher.  However, my desire to engage in the practice of law led me to complete my legal training and embark on a career as a prosecutor.  Throughout my career as a prosecutor, I worked on a wide variety of criminal cases at various public prosecutors’ offices across Japan, including the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office, Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office, Wakayama District Public Prosecutors Office, and Saitama District Public Prosecutors Office.  Additionally, I contributed to prosecution reforms and organizational management of prosecution at the Supreme Public Prosecutors Office.  During my assignments with the Minister’s Secretariat and the Criminal Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, I was involved in judicial administration related to matters such as bar exams, and criminal legislation and operations.  While working at the Litigation Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, I was involved in various administrative and civil litigation cases concerning disputes involving national interests over a period of approximately seven years.  These experiences have led me to believe that, as legal practitioners, in order for our work to be useful to society, it is important that we make swift decisions, take decisive actions, and employ persuasive logic.  Furthermore, our work should always consider the public and public interests and be grounded in common sense.

I look forward to continuing to further hone my professional expertise to make meaningful contributions to society, and as a practicing lawyer, I will strive to resolve any legal challenges our clients may encounter with the utmost dedication.
