ATD Law in association with Mori Hamada & Matsumoto is pleased to announce commencing a Strategic Intelligence Service in Indonesia. Ms. Kumiko Homma, who was working as the Japan Desk of the Indonesian Ministry of Investment (BKPM) until July this year, will oversee the provision of this new service.

Ms. Kumiko Homma is fluent in Indonesian and has many years of experience analyzing political and economic trends in Indonesia, including industrial data. She spent four years at the Bandung Institute of Technology, and she worked in Indonesia at the Embassy of Japan and Jakarta Japan Club (Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry) (2014-2019). From 2019 to July 2023, she worked as a JICA expert and was responsible for BKPM Japan desk. Ms Homma has a Ph.D. in Comparative Civilizations from Rikkyo University, Japan.

The Strategic Intelligence Service will collect political, economic, and various statistical information in Indonesia from primary information in Indonesian language and provide elaborated analysis of this information as required by clients. Related support may include communication with government agencies as needed. Clients will be able to use the information and analysis provided by the services as a basis for the consideration and implementation of their business strategies in Indonesia.

In Indonesia, when considering business strategies including whether to start business operations or expand current operations, it is necessary, but not always easy to understand movements in Indonesian political, economic, and industry trends. Information is not always readily available or, may need to be gathered from numerous sources. Elaborated analysis of this information may also be challenging. Our Strategic Intelligence Service will serve the needs of clients who face these challenges.

The Strategic Intelligence Service is a new form of service to support traditional legal services. With the addition of this function, we are able to provide more commercial and higher value legal advice as it will be based on a deeper understanding of the political and economic conditions and industry trends behind the regulatory developments.

We plan to start our Strategic Intelligence Service in late August this year.
