[Overview]
In Japan, the uncertainty surrounding corporate economic activities has notably increased. Since the pandemic, there has been a rise in the number of bankruptcies and a growing need for business restructuring through out-of-court workouts.

In response to these circumstances, Japan has seen significant changes in the framework and practice of business restructuring. The “Early Business Recovery Act” which introduces the principle of majority rule to out-of-court workouts, was enacted in June to promote early intervention in business recovery.

The latest practices in business restructuring in Japan have become a significant area of interest for international business entities and advisors, particularly with the “Early Business Recovery Act” law.

As a result, we are planning to offer a seminar (recorded session) in English, primarily targeting overseas and English-speaking audiences.

This seminar will feature attorneys who are engaged in business restructuring practices in Japan and the US. They will provide insights into the latest practices and trends in business restructuring in Japan. The English version will focus on topics of high interest to international participants, such as scenarios where foreign companies become sponsors of Japanese restructuring firms, initiate the restructuring or liquidation of Japanese subsidiaries, consider global restructuring including within Japan, or hold claims against Japanese restructuring companies.
